Business Year in Review (2024)

2024 Business Year in Review Title Image

As we step into 2025, I want to take a brief moment to look back on the previous year and discuss some highlights and achievements. In short: Success! It was an amazing year of growth.

Wins With Business

First of all, I narrated four audiobooks. All of them can be found on Audible! Just do a search on my name, Rob Sogomonian, and they all should show up. At the time of posting this article, I have a fifth audiobook in review so it should show up shortly thereafter. And I have four more in the pipeline!

In addition to the four audiobooks I had several commercial and explainer projects as well. I was also able to voice a couple characters in a video game. In fact… I did the math, and I had a 12x increase in business revenue between 2023 and 2024. That’s over 1,070% of growth in one year! Huge success!

Success With Colleagues

In addition, a group of Voice Over friends and I founded Articul8 Studios and we began production on an ongoing audio drama that we’re calling Static Shift. It is all original content written, directed, and produced by our talented troupe of voice actors. We released our pilot episode a little earlier this year. You can watch it below!

We did receive feedback that the introduction music was a little on the long side so if you decide to give it a listen enjoy the groovy synth beats leading up to the episode start or just skip to 35 seconds into the video to begin the journey. You’ll be missing out if you skip the music, though.

Wins With Singing

Finally, I will touch on one more set of successes that I had this year. It has to do with singing. If you’ve been following my blog, you will have seen my post earlier this week regarding my 12 Days of Christmas Carols. If not, the gist is that in the twelve days leading up to Christmas, I sang and posted a different Christmas Carol each day. It was a whole lot of fun, despite having social media mute some of them for using copyrighted background tracks.

Look, I didn’t have time to learn all 12 of them and play them on the piano, ok? Maybe that’ll make the 2025 edition. 😉

Foreshadowing!

I also have a good connection with the local Real Estate Community where I live in the San Francisco East Bay. Every year one of the marketing groups that I attend, the Real Estate Marketing Association, has a holiday party and every year at this party they kick things off with the National Anthem.

I don’t know why. It’s not a sporting event. It’s just tradition.

Well, this year the person that usually sings it was unable to attend and I was asked to sing in her place. I had never been asked to sing the National Anthem before. Of course I accepted.

And I nailed it.

There are a lot of Veterans in California Real Estate. There are few things that annoy Veterans more than when a singer messes up the National Anthem. Every Veteran at the holiday party came up to me and complimented me on how well I performed the song then thanked me for not butchering it.

The holiday party was wonderful.

As I close out this article reflecting on the past year in my VO business I hope I’ve inspired you to do the same in your business, whatever your focus may be. It’s a great way to really reflect on your accomplishments and success in the previous year and, at least in my case, really jazz yourself up for the new year.

My wish is that you had a wonderful holiday to close out 2024 surrounded by delicious food, close family, and good friends. I am sending much success to you in 2025.
